Cincinnati Open Recap!

Hey everyone!

This week, I had the opportunity to compete at the Cincinnati PPA Grand Slam, where I took on all three events.

The venue, recently renovated by billionaire Ben Navarro, is absolutely incredible now! The upgrades really made a difference and added to the overall excitement of the event.

As always, it’s a pleasure to share the court with my close friend Callie Smith. While the outcome wasn’t quite what we hoped for, we ended up losing in the round of 32 to Connor Garnett & Milan Rane. It wasn’t our best result, but we’ll learn and come back stronger!

In singles, I made it to the round of 16, where I had a great win over John Lucian Goins. I was pleased to stop his two-tournament win streak, but unfortunately, I fell short against Adam Harvey in a three-game thriller. It was a tough match, but I’m proud of the way I fought.

Played my third men’s doubles event with Riley Newman, and once again we battled our way to the quarterfinals. This time we came up short against CJ Klinger and JW Johnson. Credit to them, they played sharp and didn’t give us much room to find a rhythm.

If you know me, you know how much I hate losing. But I always try to take the positives out of every situation. Losses push me to spend more time breaking things down, learning, and getting better. We’ll be back stronger and ready for the next challenge!

Looking ahead, my next tournament will be the PPA Sacramento, where I’ll be teaming up with Etta Tuionota and Riley Newman. This one’s extra special, we’ll all be playing with wooden paddles!

If you’re planning to be there and need tickets to watch the action, reach out to me! I’ll do my best to hook you up!

Tip of the Day:

“Control what you can control. Don’t waste energy on things you can’t control. Like the weather, the court conditions, or even the score. Instead, try to channel your focus on your footwork, shot selection, and mindset. That’s where true consistency is built”

- Jay Devilliers
